Valentine’s Day, Mother’s and Father’s Day champion a limited form of love (based on a unique person). Alternative Valentine’s Day offers activities to explore the meaning of relationship, raising the possibility of true friendship, and leading finally to the Visionary friendship contract.

Let’s find the core of the existing holidays: nurturing each other, helping each other, learning about each other. And don’t stop short by thinking only about those with whom you are closest to. Stand up for and share the possibility of another ideal!

The event is composed of several parts. Meetings to explore the meaning of love, compassion, forgiveness, non-violence, etc. An evening Celebration of the Good, to read aloud beautiful works about relationship in an informal setting. And Public action, to publicize this alternative ‘holiday’ in public spaces.

This ‘holiday’ could be an appropriate counterbalance to the standard relationhip holidays, as well as sex education, to promiscuity and the injunctions of religions.

– Evening Celebration of good, in which we read aloud beautiful works on relationship.
– Friendshape. Review our intact and broken relationships. Have you had a broken relationship due to jealousy, betrayal, divorce?

Facilitate a meeting
Each meeting should have a place for Visionary society tools such as Reflect (seeing your own position inside of this mess) and Explore (entertain positions you oppose). Most of all, meetings should create a climate of affection and reflection. We want to create a space for an unexpected solution.
How it works

Citywide engagement
Public event to demonstate how there is another way to resolve divisive, polarized issues. Show how it is possible to resolve political issues in a visionary way, with humility, respect, insight, and courage. It could take place in a public square or space, engaging the public in basic questions about how to approach political issues.
