Overview
Creating the education infrastructure needed to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young girls requires a multi prong approach with efforts lasting years, if not decades. Our first priority will be to support girls in Tanzania by providing them with much needed resources to acquire quality education from primary up to university levels. We shall focus on less-privileged girls, especially those in rural areas as they face the greatest challenge in acquiring any form of education.

Details

Challenge

Nearly half (47%) of primary school aged girls are not attending school. Between 2004 and 2010, pregnancy among Tanzanian girls aged 15 to 19 years fell by about 12%. Still, more than 40% of young women begin having children by age 18, and the country has one of the highest adolescent pregnancy rates in the world. (UNICEF) Girls in urban areas of Tanzania were eight times more likely to finish secondary education than girls in rural areas. (The Citizen)

Solution

Our first priority will be to support girls in Arusha, Tanzania by providing them with much needed resources to acquire quality education from primary up to university levels. We shall focus on less-privileged girls, especially those in rural areas as they face the greatest challenge in acquiring any form of education. Specifically, we shall be providing tuition fees, school uniforms, shoes, books, healthcare services, scholarships and also help to provide safe learning environments for girls.

Long-Term Impact

The future stage shall require these girls, after acquiring quality education to fill the gap within the same generation and be prepared to teach the next. The initial schools, and overall improved levels literacy and general knowledge, will create a pool of potential teachers for the fundamentals in the next generation. It will also mean a larger number of young women that will have attended places of higher education, and can create academic institution within their own communities.
