Background
My name is Veronica Lwiza. I had to stop my education after Form Four when both of my parents passed away. My aunt took me in and brought me to Dar es Salaam to teach me how to sew, but I didn’t enjoy it and eventually stopped. Determined to find another way, I managed to get a small amount of capital and started selling vegetables. I bought a basin and different items like onions, fruits, tomatoes, and greens, then walked from house to house in various neighborhoods selling them. As my capital grew, I rented a small space to display the goods so customers from the area could come and buy. That small stall is shown in the photo. Now, I’m seeking support to expand this stall into a shop where I can also sell kitchen essentials like soap, cloths, pots, brushes, and dry foods such as beans, salt, maize, and flour. This would help me grow, improve my life, and support others—just as I was once supported.
