Farm to Future focuses on improving local farmers' incomes and reducing post-harvest losses by enhancing agricultural practices and providing better storage solutions. The project aims to support farmers with sustainable methods, helping them achieve financial stability and self-reliance for a stronger agricultural community.

ITAGATA VILLAGE,RUNGWE DISTRICT MBEYA REGION
Problem
Farmers in our community struggle with pests, inconsistent water supply, and losing crops after harvest. These problems come from unpredictable weather, lack of proper farming techniques, and no access to storage. My project will help by introducing better farming practices, setting up rainwater harvesting systems, and improving storage methods, so farmers can grow healthy crops and reduce waste.
Goals
My project focuses on improving farming and introducing small-scale food processing to help local farmers increase their income and reduce waste. My family and neighbors from Itagata Village will be actively involved, and I will oversee the project's daily operations. We will also get guidance from agricultural experts to ensure sustainable farming practices.
Plan
The grant funds will be used to purchase essential farming equipment, seeds, and materials for crop production. We’ll also build a local storage facility to reduce post-harvest losses.

Timeline:

Month 1-2: Buy tools and build the storage facility.
Month 3-4: Store harvested crops and start selling at higher market prices.
Month 5-6: Transport produce to local and regional markets.
Needs & Funds
For my project, I'll need fertile land, seeds, and tools for planting and maintenance. I'll also require funds for fertilizers, pesticides, storage, and transportation. In the first month, I’ll secure land and buy supplies, then plant crops and set up storage and transport. By months two and three, I’ll focus on maintaining the crops and preparing for harvest and distribution.
Vision
My vision is to see local farmers earn more and waste less by improving their farming techniques and adding value to their crops. I expect this project to cut down on spoilage with better storage and processing, giving farmers a stable income and a better quality of life. Long-term, I hope to create a sustainable, self-reliant farming community that thrives on smart practices and local support.
