"Look for the underlying causes of current events"

Current events are the culmination of events that began a long time ago. Conflict, economics, politics, poverty, crime, dysfunction, illness, the exploitation of nature: these are only symptoms. Do not stop at the surface. In each story mention at least one underlying motive or cause. Each piece should have some kind of resource or link to the deeper side of the story.

"Publicize economic statistics that recognize well-being, not just growth"

Do not focus on GDP, stock exchange numbers, official unemployment figures, or the financial success of the elite. Instead, look at the well-being of the population. Use real statistics on unemployment and inflation, not the official manipulated and sanitized ones.

Neil Postman
"Americans no longer talk to each other, they entertain each other"

Online Product Sales

This project focuses on running an online business that makes shopping easier for customers by handling product sourcing and delivery. Customers place their orders online, and I source the requested items from local shops. For clients who are nearby, I deliver directly, while for those farther away, I arrange for items to be shipped. The aim is to save people time and provide a convenient and reliable service.

To make this happen smoothly, I need financial capital that will allow me to purchase products in advance and on time. This prevents delays and helps maintain customer satisfaction. I also hope to establish a small physical center where clients can find me more easily. This will help build trust, increase visibility, and attract a larger customer base.

When there is love the problem is simple. Otherwise, the problem is complex.
When you reach the shore, keep going. Press onwards through unknown seas. Hunker down in the wild and forage in the deeps. Don’t disembark at the first truth. It is a truth, but only one pinnacle of truth, a single prominence rising up when the tide recedes. Premature understanding falsifies and slays the truth. Wait a while longer and more islets appear, and finally the base, from which all ascend. Dwelling there, cradling opposites, the primal elements become luminous and speak for themselves: the fruit of the wilds: healing embrace, unknowing of ignorance.
"Tiger got to hunt, bird got to fly;
Man got to sit and wonder, 'Why, why, why?'
Tiger got to sleep, bird got to land;
Man got to tell himself he understand."
– Kurt Vonnegut, Cat’s Cradle

Think for yourself (Understand)

Find the heart and soul of any issue. Each person must set their own learning path. Let’s begin again, as a newborn babe.

Begin again as a newborn babe
Your mind pliable and probing
Waiting as lion in the woods

Let us conceive of education as awakening from sloth, removing the mask, and seeing with clear eyes. To find out what is good in ourselves, to heal our own psychological damage, to grasp our higher nature. The one who knows is not who remembers more, but who probes and cares more.
1. Find something real in what you see.
2. Ask what lies at the root.
3. Say something good about those you disagree with.

Understanding is transformative, world-changing. But that is the easy part. It is not complete until we take action. We have not understood a topic until we have resolved it in practice. Understanding and action are one and the same.

Culture: Beautiful Books

Is a glorious culture possible? The purpose of Beautiful Books is to promote and celebrate beautiful art. We want to remind each other that culture can lift and inspire, inform and transform. Goodness, beauty and truth exist. Let’s join together to rediscover what this is.

Great art wakes us up. It reminds us of our higher nature and helps us find ways to express our own vision. It inspires us, makes us whole, and strengthens us to go back into the world and fight for what is true.

We need a way to judge art and hold artists accountable for what they create. The purpose of Beautiful Books is to promote and celebrate beautiful culture and art. Beautiful Books is a counterpart to Banned Books.

The intention of Beautiful Books is not to judge art. That is for each person to do on their own. Our goal is only to defend the idea that art has a purpose that is larger than itself.

Art can shatter as easily as it can create. Profane or obscene material shatters sensitivity to beauty. Culture can lift and inspire, inform and transform. Let us be a friend to beauty. Let’s make beauty visible to ordinary eyes.

This is Part 2 of a two part series on Modern Culture. Part 1 is understanding Our Moral Condition.

The Core of Religions
The goal of the Core of Religions is to recognize the tremendous living fountain of insight at the center of wisdom traditions.
Conventional religions are powerless to check the modern religion of materialism. Wisdom should not be hoarded. Religions are our birthright, and belong equally to everyone. They are the common storehouses of wisdom, from which we may draw our own portion.

“To find God you must know how to love, not God, but the human beings around you, the trees, the flowers, the birds. Then, when you know how to love them, you will really know what it is to love God.” Jiddu Krishnamurti
“O my brothers, God exists. There is a soul at the centre of nature, and over the will of every man, so that none of us can wrong the universe. It has so infused its strong enchantment into nature, that we prosper when we accept its advice, and when we struggle to wound its creatures, our hands are glued to our sides, or they beat our own breasts.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
“To witness the perpetual marvel of the world’s coming into being is to sense the presence of the Giver in the given, to realize that the source of time is eternity, that the secret of being is the eternal within time.” Abraham Heschel

Deep relationship
Look for the higher nature in anyone, the grandeur of any living being.
Find out how you agree with others, not on how you differ
“At every moment of our lives we should be trying to find out, not in what we differ from other people, but in what we agree with them; and the moment we find we can agree as to anything that should be done, kind or good, (and who but fools couldn’t?) then do it; push at it together.” John Ruskin
Always decide to use humble love
“At some thoughts one stands perplexed, especially at the sight of men’s sin, and asks oneself whether one should use force of love and humility. Always decide to use humble love. If you resolve on that once and for all, you may subdue the whole world. Loving humility is marvelously strong, the strongest of all things, and there is nothing else like it.”
Feodor Dostoyevsky
Do not take advantage of others for your own benefit
Do not prosper at the expense of others. Some things one should never do: Take advantage of other people, especially those who depend on you. Do not treat others as a means to an end, a way to satisfy your own needs. Some things one should never think: To want a human being primarily as the means to satisfy a need. Do not take advantage of the feelings of another person (for example, in romantic love, sex or any kind of intimacy).
Do not injure the integrity of another person. Personal interests should never be pursued until the effects on others’ outer and inner state are taken into account. Do not take advantage of anyone, especially those who depend on you. Do not use a human being primarily as the means to satisfy a need. Never damage another person, especially internally. Do not express contempt for or humiliate anyone.

Visionary Marriage
Conventional marriage is collapse into the binary. Visionary marriage, while also private and exclusive, preserving intimacy at the physical and emotional levels, is expansive. It prepares for the most important kind of inclusiveness: sharing what is most true with anyone who is able.
Visionary marriage is a vow not to one person only but to the community and the universe. It is trust that you will not close your heart to others. It fortifies us to go into the world and offer ourselves for herculean tasks.
Mutually agree to wield the force of your marriage for the cause of everyone. In your private life prepare yourself for your public life, especially by the way you think of yourselves, find happiness, and make choices about your future.
Friendshape
Most of our relationships fail to meet their promise, falling into disrepair or just withering away ignominiously. Maybe we forgot what attracted us to each other to begin with. Maybe we never did understand each other. Or maybe a misunderstanding came between us.
Is there another kind of relationship, one that is not doomed to die? Whatever it takes, however much it challenges our way of thinking, that is where we have to go. Let’s go there together.
Friendshape is a way of taking account of the views and feelings of the other party, of working through and resolving problems, disagreements and misunderstandings, of asking for and offering reflection or contrition.
Friendshape your friendships. Never give up on a relationship. Be faithful to all relationships.
Insights from Jiddu Krishnamurti
“What is important is to find out if you’re one of those with whom love wishes to dwell.”
"Relationship is not possible where there is greed."
“Why is it we all so desperately want to be loved?” “Because we are so desperately empty, lonely.”
“To meet somebody with the same intensity, with the same sense of time, and with the same passion – that is love.”
“Have you ever taken a leaf in your hand and looked at it, a leaf that has just fallen on the dirty road where thousands of people have walked and polluted the ground with their spittle? If you feel that leaf, you will know how to love.”
Join us in exploring Jiddu Krishnamurti's insights in relationship
What is Relationship? Having defeated our reptilian reflexes, and lived our lives with goodwill, we are finally able to greet another with totality. We are one. Two people, one soul. A billion people, one humanity. We all catch glimpses of these luminous relationships. When we are sulking and oppressed, overfull of our unmet needs, they strike us like a celestial event. It is recognition that we are on parallel paths, building a common visionary world. It is bringing together two souls for the elaboration of the good. Join with all those on the path to true relationship. Bind your fate to anyone able and willing to form true relationship. Establish an active, permanent relationship for building a new society.

Your broken heart
Your relationship failed, but you are still in love. That is painful. But tangled up in your pain is a misconception. You couldn’t be more wrong if you think this is just about the two of you. Embedded here is something bigger than yourself and your own loss. Why is the memory searing? Because you poured yourself into it and imbued it with faith. Faith in the beautiful and good. Your broken heart is humanity’s heart.
The break is going to be reconciled, but you have to have to be willing to move to the next level. Otherwise, continue to wallow in your misery.
Is relationship without betrayal, misunderstanding and forgetfulness possible? Is true friendship possible? Is love in society possible? Yes.

Relationship: Create a new Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day, Mother’s and Father’s Day champion a limited form of love. Don't cut yourself short. There is an even better kind of relationship.

Let’s find the core of the existing holidays: nurturing each other, helping each other, learning about each other. Fight the idealization of romantic love. Bring together two souls for the elaboration of the good. Defend the possibility of true friendship!

– Ask for depth in every relationship, at least a little.
– Look upon harm-doers with the eyes of a mother.
– Be faithful to all relationships and never give up on anyone.
– Support anyone who is sensitive to life.
– Learn to see all children as your own.
– Spending more than fifty percent of your time or energy on a personal relationship is a crime against humanity.

New Valentine’s Day presents the Visionary Friendship pledge, which is relationship without idolatry. Friendshape your friendships. Give your heart to humanity!

Turn a political issue into a Quest

Are you fed up with politics, but still want to be involved in the issues of the day? Is government that recognizes heart and soul possible?

Every time a political issue is presented to us we can look for a deeper way, one not based on superiority or coercion. Turn a political issue into a Quest.

Does politics have to be adversarial? Are you worthy of democracy? What would it mean to develop exquisite sensitivity to the human condition of the community?

Do not vote for a second-rate way of life, even if it is the lesser of two evils. We have more power than we realize, if we build up in ourselves, during the course of our life, the courage of heart and soul. Of refusing to close our heart. Of defending ourself against despondency and bitterness. Of the tenderness and fearlessness that is needed to approach our foes. This is voting as it was meant to be.

It doesn’t matter which side is right. It doesn’t even matter if we find a solution. Instead, our goal must be to look courageously, with humility and goodwill. That is already transformative action. Visionary voting means developing our latent and suppressed capacity for perceiving and acting at the deepest possible level. It means engaging people to respond at precisely the level at which deficiency is being generated.

Turn a political issue into a Quest
Every time a political issue is presented to us we can look for a deeper way, one not based on superiority or coercion. Take it as an opportunity to transform the field on which opposing parties meet, so that they no longer meet in opposition. Reconstruct any hopeless political issue and make it Visionary. Select a political issue, and we will work together to turn it into Quest.

Pledge Summary
Stop taking sides.
Don’t believe what you are told by politicians or the media.
Don't assume that our present choices are a permanent fact.
Listen deeply to views you don’t agree with.
Instead of demanding change ask for empathy, contrition and reflection.
Find a way that changes assumptions and that works at the heart level.
