Do you know someone who has struggled to find a place in society?
Think of someone you have known who has struggled to find a place for themselves in the world. Someone with dysfunction of any kind. What kind of problem did they face? Did they have an alcohol or drug addiction? Did they have a mental illness? Were they homelessness? How did they deal with these problems? What has become of them?
What led them to these problems? Was it their family upbringing? Struggle at school? Did they have a personality or character that was overly sensitive? That wasn’t sensitive enough? Did they face some kind of trauma? Was that trauma caused by violence? Was it caused by the structure of society itself?
What was your relation with them? Did you try to understand them? Did you do what you could to help them?
Think again: What was the real cause of their problem? Where and when did it start? What could have been done to help them, from the beginning. How could they have blossemed and flourished in their life?
