“Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation.” Jalalludin Rumi
“We should stay with a friend as long as we can, until we’re compelled to abandon him completely against our will. It’s a serious thing to toss away money, but to cast aside a person is even more serious. Nothing in human life is more rarely found, nothing more dearly possessed. No loss is more chilling or more dangerous than that of a friend.” Marsilio Ficino
Never give up on a relationship. It doesn’t matter if it’s the love of your life or an acquaintance you just met. It doesn’t matter if it’s lifelong friends, or those you have nothing in common with, or actual enmity. These were your formative propositions, still echoing in your life. All relationships are subject to decay. All can be broken, forgotten, betrayed. And all can be redeemed.
Think of those you really liked and meant a lot to you, but with whom you remained at a pragmatic level. You only went so far. You evaded the crux. You never reached the heart. Decide that you will fulfill this incomplete relationship, that you will pursue it until everything that can be done has been done. Do this while you are still alive. You are stamping your verdict indelibly upon this plane of existence.
