Visionary learning center and community hub
Let’s create a new kind of learning center that is open to everyone. The conventional style of education is narrow and shallow, based on passing down knowledge of authority figures. It is learning for information, for distraction, or to earn money or get a job.

Visionary learning center and community hub (A Visionary Society Quest)
Let’s create a new kind of learning center that is open to everyone. The conventional style of education is narrow and shallow, based on passing down knowledge of authority figures. It is learning for information, for distraction, or to earn money or get a job.

Supporting helps build the critical mass for change. Critical mass means that we are building awareness, that we can be effective in taking action. Supporting a Quest, in any area, is becoming – starting to become – Visionary citizen.

When a few of us show interest we'll schedule a meeting to explore together and discuss possibilities for transformative action.

Undertake your education as a monastic vow to grasp your higher nature and a path towards achieving it. Learning pathway is what we used to call education. In this age of specialization education for wholeness or rounded personality development is of ever greater importance.
Visionary learning is a dynamic, responsive community in which the people undertake the tasks that matter. We need the mental fortitude to approach any question, explore it, plumb its depths and find a resolution. We need to find out what is good about ourselves and begin to envision a more visionary community. If nothing else, these forums could begin to heal our own psychological damage.

What does an ‘educated’ person need to know?
→ The perennial questions, about appearance, desire, loss, envy…
→ Become dissatisfied with what you are, not what you have.
→ Ascertain the real movement of the spirit within you. Become sensitive to the reality and will other people.
→ Learn to deal with passion, envy, greed, narcissism. Know how to respond to ignorance and evil. Appreciate silence and solitude. Learn how to remember, and how to listen. Learn to negotiate between matter and spirit, between necessity and freedom.

Possible features
→ City-wide learning, open to all at low or no cost.
→ ‘Celebration of the good.’ Informal readings or performances of anything that makes you think, reaches your heart, or lifts your spirit. It is an experiment in a new way to pass the time on weekend evenings.
→ Users can select any topic. The public will find those who with experience who are able to become a guide.
→ Movie theater with great movies and other features such as discussion.
→ Develop other learning forums such as public gatherings, festivals, conferences, and seminars that cultivate and celebrate our emerging wisdom.

"Most people think only once in their lives, usually when they are at college. After that their minds are made up, and their decisions, utterances are endless repetitions of views that have in the meantime become obsolete, outworn, unsound.” Abraham Heschel
“What is the hardest task in the world? To think.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
