Startup toolkit for graduates with disabilities
In Tanzania, there are still stigma and discrimination practices in the community regarding employing people with disabilities, and this has made it a challenge for graduates with disabilities to access decent jobs. The option remaining is to enhance self-employment for the youth with disabilities who have acquired technical skills. This project will be providing start-up tools and life skills training that will enhance the graduate to establish his/her business

Challenge

Access to decent jobs by youth with disabilities is a critical challenge in Tanzania. Most of the graduates with disabilities remain at home begging as if the skills acquired from the TVETs were useless. Most of the families of youth with disabilities are poor and have no start-up capital. Only a few are supported with start-up tools to establish their own workshops and earn their income.

Solution

The project aims at supporting 100 TVETs graduates with disabilities in Tanzania with startup tools and business management skills. The project also aims at providing mentorship support to these businesses (workshops) established.

Long-Term Impact

The long-term impact of this project is to have youth with disabilities in Tanzania empowered economically.

This project has provided additional documentation in a PDF file (projdoc.pdf).

Gatherings
Exploring a Quest on your own is good, but doing it together with friends and community members is better.

Exploring a Quest on your own is good, but doing it together with friends and community members is better! Facilitating Quests is easy and no one needs to be an expert. The Quest Path is intuitive. Just take the steps that interest you. To begin, decide on the Gathering type.
Quest Meeting
Hold a meeting open to Visionary society members and the public, with the purpose of following any Quest Path, reaching the heart of a basic social or personal mystery. See more.
Public Action
A great insight matters little unless and until we bring it into the world. Public Action is bringing the insights of a Quest to the public. It works by engagement – engaging the public, helpfully but with clarity, in matters of significance. See more.
Celebration of the Good
Can we envision a new kind of entertainment, one that engages people in active celebration of beauty, truth and good? See more.
