Problem
The tailoring industry struggles with issues like inaccurate manual measurements, few customization options, long wait times, and high labor costs. These problems arise from outdated methods and a lack of technology, making tailoring services expensive and inconsistent.
Goals
My project, Blandina's Tailoring Boutique, aims to set up a small-scale tailoring business offering custom clothes, uniforms, and fabric products to the local community. I'll manage the project, oversee operations, and handle day-to-day tasks, while experienced tailors will help with production. The community will benefit from affordable, high-quality tailoring services, and we'll also provide training to expand our skills and income opportunities.
Plan
The grant funds will be used to buy essential tailoring equipment and set up the workshop. This includes sewing machines, fabric and supplies, and ironing equipment.
Timeline:
Week 1-2: Purchase and set up sewing machines, fabric, and other tools; prepare the workshop space.
Week 3: Begin tailoring operations, fulfill customer orders, and start marketing through local ads and word-of-mouth.

Needs & Funds
The grant funds will cover essential sewing equipment, including sewing machines, fabric, threads, needles, zippers, and buttons, as well as ironing equipment, at a total estimated cost of $170. Additionally, funds will be used to secure a workshop space and purchase furniture such as chairs, shelves, and storage units, with an estimated cost of $30. The setup will take place in Week 1-2, and production will begin in Week 3, focusing on tailoring school uniforms, traditional clothing, and fulfilling customer orders while marketing locally. The total estimated cost is $200.
Vision
My tailoring project aims to develop valuable skills in garment-making, provide affordable, quality clothing to the community, and boost my financial independence. In the long term, I plan to expand the business, establish a training center for ongoing education, and empower local women and youth with tailoring skills for greater economic growth.
