Not wearing masks is a failure of our social obligation

In the context of a deadly and often debilitating contagion, where the unchecked spread of infection has consequences for the entire society, vaccination is not a personal decision. And inasmuch as the United States has struggled to achieve herd immunity against Covid-19 through vaccination, it is because we refuse to treat the pandemic for what it is: a social problem to solve through collection action.

Is it any surprise that millions of Americans treat this fundamentally social problem — how do we vaccinate enough people to prevent the spread of a deadly disease — as a personal one? Or that many people have refused to take the shot, citing the privacy of their decision as well as their freedom to do as they choose?
…This is the society we have built, where individuals are left to carry the burdens of life into the market and hope that they survive. This so-called freedom is ill suited to human flourishing. It is practically maladaptive in the face of a pandemic.
That’s why families and communities were left to fend for themselves in the face of disease, why so many people treat the question of exposure and contagion as a personal choice made privately and why our institutions have made vaccination a choice when it should have been mandated from the start.
I share this frustration, as well as the anger at the lies and misinformation that fuel a good deal of anti-vaccine sentiment. But I also know that anger toward individuals is ultimately misplaced.
When you structure a society so that every person must be an island, you cannot then blame people when inevitably they act as if they are. If we want a country that takes solidarity seriously, we will actually have to build one.

The purpose of lockdowns is social control

The pandemic is being weaponized and used as a form of social control and as a launchpad for a globalized techno-surveillance society/bio-capitalist dystopia.

Why is it so difficult for some people to grasp that the novel coronavirus/Covid-19 is real, highly infectious with potentially very serious consequences AND that the current pandemic is being used by governments and various billionaires and their lobbies (Gates, Musk, WEF etc.) to advance surveillance capitalism, the global surveillance state and a tech driven bio-capitalist dystopia?
The Off-G crowd CAN see that there are powerful forces using Covid-19 narratives to manipulate the public and launch a nefarious global plutocracy, but they discredit themselves by rambling on about how the whole pandemic is a manufactured hoax. Furthermore, they dismiss all arguments and points of view that don’t buy into that ‘hoax’ delusion. Not very helpful, particularly when there is significant common ground to be explored.
MoA is not pushing baseless corona fantasies, but it is strange that ? NEVER talks about how the pandemic is being weaponized and used as a form of social control and as a launchpad for a globalized techno surveillance society/ bio-capitalist dystopia.

Irrational fears and unquestioning obedience

When I see people walking outside, often alone with no one anywhere near them, wearing a mask, my primary reactions are disappointment and sadness. I am disappointed because I expected better from my fellow Americans. I never thought most Americans would be governed by irrational fears and unquestioning obedience to authority. I have come to realize that I had a somewhat romanticized view of my countrymen.
And if masks protect us and others, why have people been refused the right to visit a loved one as he or she lay dying alone? Why couldn’t a person — wearing the same mask a doctor, nurse or any health care worker wears when entering your parent’s room — enter that room?

Anti-maskers are stupid and soulless

Anti-maskers are not just stupid, they display an utter lack of empathy for the sick, healthcare workers and those people that have no choice but to be around them. They are soulless creatures that only think of their own comfort and ego.
Reddit, Feb 13 2021

Conspiracy theorists started coming out as quick as this pandemic screaming, "It's all fake!" These "Coronavirus Deniers" think this pandemic is a hoax and have total disregard for social distancing. As most people quarantined at home (and inexplicably hoard toilet paper), these people continue to spread misinformation, angering a lot of health care workers who sacrifice their lives and their family.
